Launch of the AMEDEE international network (mining, environments, development, economies, ethics): first collaborative research/action/training platform to promote a responsible and virtuous mining model (circular economy) in sub-tropical and inter-tropical areas: YAMOUSSOUKRO, 5-8 December 2017

From 5 to 8 December 2017, in Yamoussoukro, the official launch of the AMEDEE network coordinated by IRD and in co-construction with its international and national partners took place. This launch was also supported by the Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët-Boigny and the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny University in Abidjan. 30 project leaders (research, development, innovation) from partner scientific institutions in Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Madagascar, from Brazil and New Caledonia were brought together on this occasion, in conjunction with the IRD UMRs involved - GET, PRODIG, LSTM, IMPMC, MIO, HYDROSCIENCE, GRED, CEREGE - and their national institutional partners (CIRAD, BRGM, Ecoles des mines -Rex, GEMDEV).

At the same time, the inauguration and launch of the African Centre of Excellence in Mining and Mining Environment (CEA-MEM) took place, supported by the Institut National Polytechnique Houphouët-Boigny (INP-HB, https://cea-mem.inphb.ci) and financed by the World Bank. IRD has joined the CEA-MEM steering committee.
