Aims: Development of techniques for decontamination or restoration of areas degraded by Fe, Al, Mn and Au mining or by the deposition of metal-rich mud on the river banks after breaking the Fundão dam. Monitor the fate of metals derived from soil or atmospheric deposition through the aquatic and terrestrial environments. Test techniques of soil transposition, nucleation and facilitation, including the establishment of the wood wide web, mud and soil mixtures to start the ecological restoration process. Improve methods of germination and production or transposition of seedlings of native species. Evaluate the dynamics of ecological succession, complexity of biotic interactions and environmental services.
